How do I get my site to look like I want?
-
I want our site to appear like this one: http://inmamamaggieskitchen.com/
And now that I have organization theme, I see that this is exactly the theme they are using.
Now that I purchased the organization theme, I cannot figure out how to get our milkladymarkets.org page to look like this site.
1. I want a banner that allows multiple photos that change automatically. Where do I go to set that up?
2. I want to set up my four photos with a paragraph and a click through to a full page. Where do I go to do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you looked through the Theme forum for threads about that theme? All of those functions are standard with the theme, ie they don’t need CSS editing, but you have to configure the theme in order to get it to do what you want. Read up on it at the Theme Forum and here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/organization/

Thanks. good to know I do not need the CSS, I will get a refund.
However, the hyperlinked words in this are not instructional the are definitions. I already built my milkladymarkets.org site so I know the definition of a page and a post.
I need to know where to got to get my site to look as it is advertised.

How do I get a “flexible header”? Where do I go to do this? It is not on the header page.

I understand that. The features you use are built in. I don’t know why the theme designers don’t just go ahead and tell you how to use them, but they don’t. Look at the Theme Options page of your dashboard, read the threads relating to the theme in the Themes forum, and read the demo information linked above. That’s all I can suggest; themes are not my thing.
If you do those things and still can’t figure out how to do it, post again in the Themes forum and tag it with the name of the theme, because staff help is included in purchases of premium themes. But that’s where they go to look for those threads.

If I get some time and am insanely bored I might tinker with the themes and find out exactly how to get them to look and behave like the demos. Then I will post webinars and charge ten bucks to view them. I would make quite a lot of money.
Honestly, telling people HOW to use a theme should be considered part of designing a theme. “It has X feature” is not the same as telling people how to implement that feature.

The slider that you see at the top of http://inmamamaggieskitchen.com/ is a post slider and Organization has that. The Organization Theme Support page covers most of the theme’s features and should get you started on setting up the theme, the content slider at the top and other features of the theme. Let us know if you have additional questions.

Yes, I do have the specific questions above. I read the ‘theme support’ and sorry I did not find it supportive. It is full of definitions of terms like page, post, etc. It is not full of instructions. do you guys have staff that I can pay to set this up for me?
1. I want a banner that allows multiple photos that change automatically. Where on the dashboard do I go to set that up? And what are they called so I know what to click on?
2. I want to set up my four photos with a paragraph and a click through to a full page. Where do I go on the dashboard to do that?
Really need help, not a tecchie. thanks.

1) Yes, that is the post slider. It takes images from your posts and puts them in this slider; the pictures don’t just exist in the slider. They have to be in posts first. You’re right about how bad the support documents are. They don’t even mention how to get it working.
I’m afraid I don’t have access to the premium themes so I can’t help you figure this out.

1) The header on Organization does not have an image rotator, and one cannot be added to the theme. That would require modification of the underlying theme files and we cannot edit those here at WordPress.com.
2) You can use the post slider to do this and here are the basic steps.
1. Create a specific tag for the posts you want to put into the top slider.
2. Go to Appearance > Customize > Featured Content and enter the tag name from 1 there and click the save button at the bottom of the Customizer flyout.
3. Assign that tag to the posts you wish to be in the top slider. If the Tags module does not appear on the post editor page, click Screen Options at upper right on the editor page and activate it.
4. Set a featured image for each post you want to appear in the top slider. The suggested size for featured images is 980 pixels wide and 520 pixels high. At that size, the image will be the highest quality.
5. Create or copy out some of the post to be used as the excerpt that will appear at the bottom of the slider and paste it into the “Excerpt” module in the post editor page. If the Excerpt module does not appear on the post editor page, click Screen Options at upper right on the editor page and activate it.Let us know how that goes and we can then work on your other desires for your site.
