How do I get my widget to work?

I am trying to set up an affiliate link. Despite following the directions of both you and the affiliate, I cannot get the link to work. It can be found on my front page:

http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/If you require advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.
