How do I get rid of annoying notifications on right side of WordPress.com blogs
-
Some months ago WordPress.com started showing notifications on the right hand side of my WordPress.com blog webpages (when I am logged in).
This notification centre is incredibly annoying, as it obscures the text on my blog, so that I cannot actually read the webpage. What’s more, it covers over the Edit button at the bottom right corner of each blog webpage, making it hard to start editing the page.
How do we get rid of this very intrusive and poorly designed notifications centre?
In the notification settings, I tried switching off every single category of notification, but this invasive notifications system still does not disappear.
I want to be rid of these stupid notifications!
When people make a comment on my blog, I can see that via email. I don’t need notifications splattered all over my blog site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you also disabled the browser notifications? You can find more information here: https://wordpress.com/support/notifications/browser-notifications/

Thanks very much for your reply, and for your weblink. Reading the info in that link, I went to the browser notifications area in my WordPress blog (at https://wordpress.com/me/notifications), and found that on the Chrome browser, these notifications are not enabled (on Chrome, I saw the Enable button, as shown in the weblink you provided). But actually I don’t get any browser notifications when I view my WordPress site with Chrome.
But I do get these browser notifications when I view my site with Safari on a Mac. Safari is my main browser. When I go https://wordpress.com/me/notifications on Safari, there is no Enable or Disable button shown. This button appears in the Chrome browser, but not in Safari. This is using the latest version of Safari, version 17.2.1.
So in Safari, there is no way to disable or enable notifications. And it seems that browser notifications are enabled by default on Safari, because these notifications show up on my WordPress blog, within the browser window on the right hand side. How can I get rid of these notifications from Safari?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
