How do I get rid of Snap Shots?
-
I have a new blog and these little annoying widows pop on all the time…I can’t get rid of them…anyone knows how??
Thanks -

Amen to that! It did nothing but mess up my site, and I turn it off on any site I visit that has it.

Just for reference, the options tabs of that popup contains an option to turn them off internet wide. It’s cookie based so if you clear out your cookies, you’ll have to do it again.
Too bad though that the options tab of the popup only works in IE7+ and I gather Firefox. Won’t work for me in Netscape.

GOD YES! PLEASE STOP THEM POPPING UP! PLEASE!!!!!
Breaks just about every law in the book of reasonable web page design.

I’m laughing at your shouting because I feel the same way. :D
Cornell’s directions will stop them “popping up” on your own blog Presentation -> Extras -> uncheck the box and click “Update Extras” but it won’t stop them from popping up on blogs you visit where the bloggers are enamored with them though. ;) -
Well, I have turned mine off now that I’ve read this! (Actually–[says in a small voice], I thought they were kinda cool–a little view before I click–but certainly don’t want to annoy anyone nice enough to visit my blog). I’ve also made sure my links open in the ‘same’ window, after reading THAT here, too. This is good inside info. on posting etiquette. Thanks :~)

Snap previews are good for letting one know that they may click a link and be plunged into and adult site. I’m also sure many other bloggers actually like them and find them useful. Live and let live, I say, but always find the ways to opt out if needs be. ;)

Actually I think you can turn them off when you visit a site that uses them. I usually click away from such sites, but I sorta kinda remember that there’s a config/preferences button on the box itself where you can tell them to go away. Of course, that’s good only until you clear your browser cookies.

Yes there is a reader’s option for turning snap previews off when each one pops up there is an option to do so in the top right hand corner. It takes time to load any blog that has this feature and then it takes time to use the turn-off option. IMO it’s clumsy so I don’t bother. I click out instead. But that option does exist for those who want to use it.

@Julienne-I’m not sure about plug-ins, but if you disable them under your wp.com Presentation/Extras, that’s only good on your wp.com site. If you are visiting someone else’s site who has enabled them, they show up.
@timethief-If you turn it off at the first one, it should be good site-wide (again, until you clear your browser cookies).

It does’nt look like we can have pluggins here sorry my mistake I have them at wordpress.org

Yes of course jen, nothing you can do about that. I actually like them lol

You can turn off snap if you let the image come up on a page, and then click on (I think) the options tab on the snap popup and then disabling it for your computer. It places a cookie on your computer, so if you do the cookie dance, you will have to disable it again.
