How do I get rid of spam videos showing up at the end of my posts?
-
Spam videos are showing up at the end of my blog posts, and some are “not nice.” I just improved my password, but how do I get rid of these? This happened once before when some spam comments got through, but once I deleted the comments, the video disappeared. Please help!? pathsofwrighteousness.wordpress.com

I’m sorry, I don’t see any videos on your site right now. Would it be possible for you to send us a link to the post in particular where you’re seeing these videos?
Sending a screenshot would also be a great help. This guide explains how to take a screenshot — you can then upload the screenshot to your Media Library:

They don’t show up in Firefox but do in Internet Explorer, and only when you click to leave a comment. Then, between the end of the post and beginning of the comments there is a you-tube ad (various types) on every single post I’ve checked.
I hope this example shows up for you. Thanks.

That sounds like an ad from WordPress.com. We do run ads sometimes to help keep our free features free. You can learn more about our advertising policy here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/Just to be sure, you can also upload the screenshot to your Media Library via your Dashboard -> Media page.

but on every single post I click on? And a friend saw one of them that was NOT family friendly.
There’s no way to get rid of them??? No other options?

There is the No-Ads upgrade, which removes all ads from your site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/n-ads/However, if an ad is not family friendly, we would be more than happy to take a look into it for you. I’d also like to take a look at that screenshot to make sure that these ads are from us.

Okay, yes, that does look like an ad from WordPress.com. The best way to handle an ad that you feel is inappropriate would be to grab a screenshot of the whole post and send it to us. This way, we can pass your information onto our ad team, who can then take a look at the ad in question for you.
Thanks for your patience and help :)

That link says, “oops, nothing here.” Must be a different link. I’ll do some searching, unless you have it handy. Thank you.
I haven’t actually clicked on any of these. The few I’ve seen don’t appear offensive, but the one my friend saw, well, I just deleted that post entirely.
Just curious . . . Is it customary to put an ad on every single post? I’ve checked posts randomly, every single one viewed in IE has had an ad.
Thanks for your help.

I’m sorry about that! The URL should be http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/
Ads aren’t usually placed on every post. The view may vary depending on who’s visiting your site — for example, I’m actually not seeing any ads on your first three posts in a different browser. If this continues, I’d first try clearing your browser’s cache:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookiesAnd then let us know if you’re still seeing them on every post.

We only see the in IE. There’s not one in the very first one I just posted this morning, but they are in the others. I just checked. And every other post I randomly checked is also affected.
Guess that’s one way to get folks to check into upgrading, right? :) Thanks so much for helping me with this. I appreciate your time. ~Jill

Sorry, one more question. If I upgrade to no-ads, not only will any new posts not have ads in them, but all the ads in my existing posts will be deleted, correct? Thanks, Jill
-
Okay, are you logged out of WordPress.com when viewing your site in IE? Logged-in viewers see fewer ads, so that may be related.
Regarding No-Ads, that’s correct. There won’t be any advertisements on your blog, for both new posts and older posts.

Okay, thank you.
That’s right. When I checked in IE, I was not logged in at the time. But I don’t think most of my readers are logged in either.
Thanks,
Jill
