How do I get rid of the Talk Bubble on Esquire?
-
I always liked Esquire because its readability, but never cared for the colors or the talk bubble. I fixed the colors, but how do you get rid of the talk bubble?
Thank you so much for your time, Heather

Could you add the following CSS to the CSS Editor and see if the result is what you want:
#header, .permalink a, #footer a:hover, #sidebar { background-color: white; } -

Is it possible to have sidebar widgets and footer widgets for Esquire? I would like to put archives on the sidebar and keep my copyright in the footer.
Thanks so much for your time and effort,
Heather -
Hi Heather, Esquire does have a footer widget area, and it looks like you’ve already added a copyright notice there.
Regarding a sidebar widget area, it’s not possible to add new widget areas to a theme that doesn’t support them.

My pleasure!
Alternatively, you could find another theme with a sidebar widget area. Esquire is a cool theme, but it’s an older one that’s not responsive – it doesn’t adapt to smaller screen sizes – so this could be a good opportunity to switch. :)

I realize it’s an old theme. I like WordPress’ old themes better than their new ones.
I just checked it out on my tablet and it works fine. On the WordPress app, however, the header/sidebar gets in the way of the blog posts.
I don’t know about even smaller screens than that.
Would you have any ideas on how to make it responsive?
Thanks for your time and effort, Heather :) -
Hi Heather, there isn’t an easy way to make Esquire responsive – it just wasn’t designed that way.
You could activate the mobile theme if you want, under Appearance > Mobile:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/mobile-themes/
That will display a separate mobile theme to visitors on small devices.
