How do I get rid of the WordPress banner on my blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

After scrolling past the first couple of posts a very visually distracting banner appears saying “timguyking.com Blog at wordpress.com. Customised Choco Theme”, It’s driving me batty. I paid for the domain name so I wouldn’t need to use ads for other people. Can you please tell me how to get rid of it?

    Thanks,
    Tim

This is the blog’s footer area. All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable.

Well that’s a serious problem because it affects the entire look and feel of the site.

I haven’t seen this on some other WordPress blogs (e.g. http://lachlancathy.com/ or http://regenaxe.com/ or many others), so I think maybe something else is going on here.

I paid to have my own ad-free domain name, and that’s not what has been delivered. Surely there is something that can be done. How are these other bloggers doing it?

Never mind, I figured it out. You have to turn off “Infinite scrolling” otherwise you get a floating ad instead of the straight footer area.

    Thanks.

    (An *UGLY* floating footer.)
