How do I get rid of your dreadful new format and get the old one back? The old ‘admin page’ was wonderful and all of the functions were so easy to do. The new system is horrible.

    Hello there,

To get your old format back navigate to https://wordpress.com/me/account, and activate the dashboard appearance as illustrated in the image below

Some support resources about this found here: https://wordpress.com/support/account-settings/#dashboard-appearance

    I hope this helps.

You are so kind to answer my question.

But now, I think I asked the wrong question – I don’t know the proper terminology. THIS is what I object to:

“During the month of March 2021, an updated sidebar and menus will be coming to all WordPress.com accounts. This update will unify various parts of WordPress.com allowing you to more easily navigate and get everything you need from the left sidebar and updated menus. Advanced admin features are in your account settings. ”

It’s the updated sidebar and menus which are so horrible for me. I knew how to use the OLD sidebar and menus. Can I undo the “Update”?

i agree the old system was much better simpler and eaier to use
one should have the option to have wordpress completly like it was before march or after wordpress updated its system, there are many of us it seems who do not appreciate, that u guys have changed how wordpress now is, it it not simpler

    Hello everyone,

It’s the updated sidebar and menus which are so horrible for me. I knew how to use the OLD sidebar and menus. Can I undo the “Update”?

I think the old sidebar will not be coming back anytime soon unless they decide to roll back the updates they made. The old format u posted earlier on just gives the user the option to edit their posts the classic way but the navigation is similar to the new default.

How do we contact “them” to ask them to (1) roll back the updates they made or (2) give us the option of accepting or rejecting the update?

wordpress.com is a shared platform. So called ‘updates’ are for the whole platform. If you think wordpress.com is that bad, you can upgrade to the Business Plan and use plugins to accomodate your site to your wishes, or you can switch to another platform that suites you more.

I get the message. Thank you.

  • Neither staff nor the community can bring back the old version.

But, if you can let us know specifically what problem you’re running into in the correct thread, we can pass the feedback along and likely get that fixed:
    https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/unified-navigation/

Again, just note we aren’t able to take action on “I hate it and want the old version back” because a few hundred million people are using the new version, and (aside from these forums) we’ve had lots of positive feedback. It’s changed for everyone. That’s what @staartmees was alluding to.

We have been able to help surface problems though, and many of those have been fixed because of the feedback. So if you’ll format your feedback as “I can’t find where to do X anymore” or “I used to just click ___ to find ____ but now it’s much harder to find” — or similarly specific — we can work with that.
