How do I get rid off ads on my WordPress site?

    I am getting adds at the top and bottom of my page. Also, when I click on the ‘Notifications’ tab the notifications do not come up. I have a ‘0’ only.
    I am using Firefox. Everything is OK in Chrome. I have followed Firefox’s instructions about updating Firefox browser and plug-ins/refreshing/get rid of cookies and cache/scanned with Anti-Malware programmes they recommend but the problem remains. When I click on ‘Tools’>Options>Aways use privacy mode all is Ok.
    Can anyone help please?
