How do i get signs properly?

  Hi there,
  i want to put a little code in my blogpost, so i used the code environment

  [code language='cpp']
  code
  [/code]

  As usual in c/c++ code there are < and > signs. these signs become ‘>’ and ‘<‘. How do I get them to be shown right?

  I do know that page, from there I learned about the code-tag. But there is absolutely no information about special characters like < or >.
