How do I get the blog to update

Having read the advice on customising my blog and making a posts, I have changed the appearance, changed the colour and writing on the header, added a new theme and posted a page about the blog. I hit all the update buttons I oculd see on the way out but when I looked at the blog nothing is different. I now can’t find any of the places where I did the work….
I am clearly missing something, aren’t I?

Thanks for your last post and suggestion. I’ve had a look around the dashboard and still can’t think what the caches are. I fear I’ve found another ‘known unknown! I wonder if there’s a book on this?
By the way, I thought your blog on pakistan is great. What a beautiful country and clearly some very bright people. God bless! -
