How do I get the icons stored in add new posts uploaded into the widget box?
-
Hi, I have been trying for days to get the social media icons to connect to the widget box. At this point I have the icons in both the library & the add post page, but I can’t get them into the widget box. I think I have the HTML correct in the widget box. When I follow your instructions, the icon doesn’t show up, the URL or title does, but not in the widget box, but just on the front page. Please can you walk me through this as I am going a little nutty.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

For entering your own HTML you should use the “Text” widget.
Currently you have 6 widgets – search, recent posts, recent comments, archives, categories and meta.

Thanks for getting back to me. I understand that I have to use the Text widget to enter my own HTML code. I have done that, but obviously I have not done it correctly & I am a little stuck. Unfortunately I don’t know too much about HTML, this is a new language for me so I need a little bit of help here. Is there anyway you can see my HTML & let me know what I have done wrong?
Thanks for your patience. Fran. -
Hi there,
Without seeing the exact codes you refer to we cannot help. What I can tell you is that we cannot post any JavaScript codes as the software will strip them out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. If you are not accustomed to coding use a draft post first. You capture an image of a social networking icon and upload it and link it to your profile page on that specific social media site. Then you switch in the draft post to the HTML editor and copy and paste the code into a text widget. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-social-media-buttons-to-your-sidebar-or-footer/
