How do I get the right Word Press theme for what I want on my blog site?

I am not sure which theme will work the best for what I want to do on my blog site. I am not real literate when it comes to understanding some of the terms and language describing the different themes. I know what I want and could describe it – just having trouble determining which theme would best do what I want. The only picture other than a gravator that I plan to have on my blog site will be a static picture
on the home page – preferably at or close to the top w/a sticky post that relates to the picture underneath the picture – and several widgets to the right side of that or as footers. The other pages on my blog – behind the home page will be my writings in one column with no pictures. Can I do this with Penscratch Theme or “Twenty Ten” or “Twenty Twelve” Theme? Which ones? Thank you

Yes. You can do that with any theme that has a custom header and a sidebar or footer widgets.

Just pick a theme and make some posts. You can’t judge a theme until you have at least three posts up.
