How do I get the search feature to look into uploaded items in my library?

I have been uploading documents to my blog in .pdf format. My goal is to make a searchable database that anyone can access either through links or by searching for a specific item.

For example, if you go to my blog there is a tab at the top for “information resources.” Under that is a drop down list that includes “2004-2007 Common Council.” Under that is another drop down menu with the months of that year.

If I were to click on “01 January 2004” there will be a list of 4 uploaded documents on that page.

One of those documents is entitled, “January 27, 2004 Common Council Meeting Minutes.” Within the body of that document is the name of a young girl, Elizabeth Shuemake. She is my example of the problem I am encountering.

In my perfect world, a person would simply have to click on the search box at the top of the page that contains the words, “Search WordPress.com,” by entering the text “Elizabeth Shuemake,” and then pressing the “This Site” button. Since her name appears a couple of times in that one document, that document should appear in the search results.

    It does not. Nothing does.

    How can I change this?

I’m sorry, but being able to search within uploaded documents isn’t something that WordPress.com supports at this time.

WordPress.com search only indexes the blog posts and pages, not the contents of any uploaded documents. So, you can search for something like ‘January 2004’, and all the documents you’ve linked with ‘January 2004’ will show up in the search, just not the content of the documents.
