How do I get the social icons to appear in my header for the Fontfolio theme?

The social links in my header for fontfolio theme are not saving when I’m linking the accounts via the customize menu.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you running one of the browsers and versions of them here? htytp://browsehappy.com
    If not then please upgrade.
Do you have third party cookies enabled on your browser?

Hi, thanks for your response. I am currently using Google Chrome which is one of the recommended browsers on Browse Happy. I have also checked whether I have the most up to date version of Chrome on my computer (which I have).

I have also checked in the browser settings whether or not third party cookies were enabled. It wasn’t disabled which I assume means it is enabled as a default.

I have tried again tonight to save my social media connections so through ‘customizer’ so that they appear in my header of the Fontfolio theme but they’re still not saving.

Any other suggestions? I know that a few others out there are having the same problem as me.

    Thanks.

Here’s what it says on the theme’s Showcase page:

    Social Links
You can add links to your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Tumblr accounts to your site’s header. First, connect these services to Publicize, by going to Settings → Sharing. Once connected, navigate to the Customizer, where you’ll find a new Connect panel. Select the account(s) you want to link to, and their respective icons will appear in the header.

Please confirm that you first connected the services to Publicize.

    Hi, justjennifer.

I had already connected my accounts via publicize – that is how they are appearing under ‘connect’ in my customize menu. The problem occurs when I’ve selected my accounts and press save.

Somehow it gets stuck at the saving stage. I know this because the words ‘Saving Changes ….’ doesn’t go away. Or when occasionally it does go away but the changes don’t actually save because when I check my blog the icons are not in the header and when I go back into the customize menu, the accounts aren’t linked up with my ‘connect’.

Did you try it with a different browser, like the latest FireFox?

If that doesn’t work for you, I will mark this for Staff assistance as it seems the only way to use this feature is via the Customizer, which does not work for everyone all the time.

  • Hi A Hint – This should be fixed for you now, and I’ve opened a bug report for what was causing it initially. Thanks for reporting this issue!

I’m still having the same problem. The bug doesn’t seem to fixed. :-(

  • Correct, the bug isn’t fixed yet; I just fixed it on her individual site. I can fix it on yours, too, but you’ll need to connect your services to Publicize in Settings->Sharing first. Let me know when you’ve done that.
