How do I get URL to read leadingpetcare.com

    Paid for ‘mapping’ my leadingpetcare.com domain onto WordPress last week. (My existing ‘host’ is no longer going to ‘hold’ domain names, so all I want is for WordPress to show my site as http://www.leadingpetcare.com )

    I did the ‘pointing’ to the WordPress Name servers last week, but nothing else seems to have happened. (All the content on my existing site was corrupted, so I’m not bothered about the content moving over.. I’m happy to start from scratch.)
    My old host (Orchard Hosting) ‘unlocked’ the domain and gave me a code they say I should give WordPress [removed by Staff]
    But I’ve not reached a point where that has been requested by WordPress. AND now when I click on my name in the top right corner of my other blog (LOUD HORIZON) it appears as though I have FOUR blogs in name of LEADING PETCARE.
    FINALLY – on the version of LEADING PETCARE that has the logo on it, and the one that looks most likely to be the operational one, the URL shows as http://leadingpetcaredotcom.wordpress.com/

    SORRY TO BE SO LONG-WINDED …. but I’m now totally confused – and need to get my site up and running again as quickly as possible.

    Hi there, unfortunately we don’t currently accept incoming domain transfers. While you can register a new domain through WordPress.com, we can’t accept transfers from other registrars.

    You may want to find a third-party domain registrar and transfer your domain there. Once that’s gone through, you can then map the domain to your WordPress site by following the directions here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    OK thanks.

    I’ll arrange the domain to another server and then try following the instruction, though hopefully that won’t result in my being charged $13 twice … but you know, I’m so confused, if it works …. who cares?! :)

    You’ve already paid for the domain mapping upgrade – so you would not need to purchase it again. All you need to do is to move your domain and to change the domain name servers (aka DNS) to point to WordPress.com.

    Let me know if you have any questions with that process.
