How do i get visitors to my blog?

I’m new to blogging and I dont understand how I get people to see my blog. I dont want to leave my blog name on other peoples comments as that seems a bit rude. Should I be doing that? If not, whats the best way to get noticed?

There’s FAQs on the subject in the FAQ Blog and I did an article on the subject as well over at http://pimpmyblog.wordpress.com
Leaving comments is fine as long as they deal with the topic and post in hand. I’m thinking that you’re thinking of doing something like “Hey, visit my cool blog” and, yes, that isn’t well received.
