How do I give invited authors access to my blog?

    I have invited authors to my blog, but when they register for an account, my blog is not listed under “My Blogs” and their posts are going to their individual blogs. How do I get them to have access to my blog?

    Hi Scott —

    Yes, I followed these instructions. The invites were sent to students, none of whom had accounts. They received the following email:

    “To accept this invitation you will need to:
    1. Signup for a WordPress.com account. You can also sign in with your existing WordPress.com account if you already have one.
    2. Accept Invitation”

    When students accessed the email invitation, many of them clicked “accept invitation” right away (the huge blue button was tempting to them), which led them to a log in page; here they clicked “register” and set up their account.

    I’m wondering if the problem was that they were supposed to click on the link “WordPress.com account” to set up the account rather than via the “register” link on the log in page.

    Any thoughts on how I can either a) have kids re-register for an account OR b) give the kids who now have an account with their own blog access to my blog? Oh — I think I might have the answer — I can now invite them using their new account usernames, yes?

    Hi there,

    You can certainly invite students based on their usernames.
    Also, you can resend the invitation emails for those students who still need to accept.

    Just scroll to the bottom of the page below to do that:

    I can see that several of the students have already accepted, so it looks like things are working there.

    Any student who does not have a WordPress.com account associated with their invitation email will be prompted to create an account before they can access your site.
