How do I have widgets on side instead of below?

My blog is is using the Manifest theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The name “sidebar” is a relative one. Some WordPress Themes have one or more sidebars and those sidebars may be featured above or below in the footer area. Typically they are named “footer” plus a word to describe which part of the footer you may place the Widgets.
The Theme you are currently using does not appear to feature a “side” sidebar on the right or left. If you change Themes, the placement of those Widgets may shift as the design layout changes.
I’m not seeing any Widgets on the side, only below, so I expect you changed Themes.

I meant I want to change the site of the widgets from the footer to the right side of the blog, near the top post. Do you know css that would do this?

This blog uses the manifest theme and it has got the widgets on the right hand side, which is what I want for widgets on my blog:

The blog you point to is a WordPress.org install running the WordPress.org version of the Manifest theme.

You cannot use the wp.org version of Manifest on wp.com. All themes available here have been modified to work with our platform.
wp.org and wp.com are not the same:

Is there no way I can get css code to put into the custom css editing part of wordpress.com to move the sidebars from the bottom footer to the right side?

Please read the link that timethief provided: it is about how to use a CSS upgrade to move the bottom sidebar to the side.
That will make your site look very similar to the wp.org version.

I have edited the css from ‘designsimply’ to this:

}Problem is the search bar won’t align with the rest of the text in ‘footer,’ the search bar needs to be moved to the left. How do I do this?

a) The blog linked to your username is using 2813. Which blog are you talking about?
b) CSS questions should be posted in the CSS forum, not the Support forum.
c) Modifying the appearance of a theme that has the general structure you prefer is easier than re-structuring it: if you want a sidebar, why don’t you select a theme with a sidebar? -
