How do i hide tags and change the comment summary.

Hi there,
For my blog, http://lifeafterchina.wordpress.com/ I am trying to do two things. I have poured over the settings and options of the dashboard and totally cant work out how to do this. I assume it is possible(at least i hope so) as it is a fairly basic request.
1. When a post is displayed, i want the list of associated tags to be hidden.
and
2. Rather than saying “No Comments >>” I want to somehow change that to be, “Leave a comment.” Or even – keep the Comment count, but somehow add a link, “Leave a comment!” or somesuch. I am basically trying to clean it up and start to promote commenting, but find the tag list and ‘No Comment’s’ areas obtrusive.
Can anyone offer any advice here? Thanks in advance.

1. You can’t do that.
2. Or that.Those things are hardcoded into the theme design and can’t be changed, even if you had the CSS upgrade. Sorry.

Re 2, you can switch to another theme. Some themes have simply “Comments”, and some have “Leave a comment”.

Ah ok, thanks. I am surprised these themes are hard coded and not particularly customisable. Thanks for the replies.

WordPress says they do these type of things because of security reasons. Does anybody know what that means? Thanks.

Actually, that’s what WordPress says about such things as frames, javascript and the like, not about themes. (And if you read the FAQ on this, you’ll see what damage such things can do.)
What WordPress does on themes is try to stay true to what the original theme designer did. So if s/he coded it “Comments,” then WP isn’t going to change that. And those kinds of things are in the HTML files that we do not have access to. Remember – we are on a shared platform and everyone using the same theme is relying on the same underlying HTML files.
