How do I hide/remove the ‘leave a reply’ box from each of my pages?

Do you want to disallow commenting altogether from your pages? If so:
– Go to each of your individual pages via the dashboard area.
– Click on the “Screen Options” tab at the top of the screen and make sure that the “Discussion” box is checked in the resulting panel.
– Scroll down to the “Discussion” section on the page, and uncheck the “Allow Comments” option here. Remember to save your changes by clicking the “Update” button.
You’ll have to go through the above process for each of individual page that has already been published.
To stop comments appearing on future pages you create, go to the Settings->Discussion page in your dashboard area and change the default commenting options as you wish.

Those tips appear to disallow comments, but the comment form still appears. Can that be hidden or disabled?

If comments are disabled then, theoretically, the comment form will disappear. Have you followed the steps to disable comments?

In my case, I was trying to only remove comments from my static About page while leaving them on the blog posts. I disabled comments for that one page as suggested in the tips above, but the form remained. I got rid of it by deleting the form in the code view of that static page, but I’m not sure that was the best solution.
