How do I host from home server, use WordPress interface, and use Zenfolio?
-
I currently host through WordPress (WP) and use a theme through WP.
What I want to do soon is host on my home server. I love the interface of WordPress, as it has become easy for me to understand. Seemingly, I would just host on my own and use WP.org, I think. But I have recently begun to sell products through Zenfolio (I’m currently using it just to show client galleries for orders).
How do I host from my own server, keep the dashboard/interface of WP, and integrate client galleries/selling through Zenfolio so that everything comes from my own http://www.echoplexphotography.com website and not http://www.echoplexphotography.(zenfolio or wordpress).com?

Hi there,
Your first and main step is going to be getting to know the WordPress.org environment, which is a bit different from WordPress.com. There are a lot of resources available in the WordPress.org Codex, which you can find here:
You will find most of the topics you need there, including information on getting started installing your WordPress site and importing your existing site from WordPress.com into WordPress.org.
Finally, you will also need to look in to setting up DNS with a provider who will be able to send traffic for one part of your site to your home server and another to your Zenfolio site. You may want to host your DNS yourself on your server or have someone else do it (such as the company which you have your domain registered with).
Unfortunately we won’t really be able to help with much of any of these steps. We aren’t involved in any of these services. We certainly wish you the best of luck however!
