How do I improve connectivity?

Recently I am finding it harder and harder to access my dashboard, stats, etc. I live in China and use a VPN. I have tried clearing my cache (clearing history and website data), which works only temporarily. I tried your “advanced” suggestions, but from the drop-down Develop menu, there is no option to “empty cache” (there is only “disable cache”), as you say there is. I’m not sure what to do.

China has been known to block WordPress.com blogs, and there is nothing that we can do about this. As a workaround, you can try using a VPN or proxy to access the blog. The following links provide some options that you may be able to explore and/or use:

As I indicated in my question, I already have a VPN. Using the VPN I am able to access WordPress blogs, including my own, as well as other blocked sites in China (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). But in the past week I have been having an increasingly harder time accessing my blog’s dashboard (for editing, posting, etc.). Clearing my cache and website data history helps briefly (maybe for a few hours), then it reverts to the same problem. If I switch servers in my VPN, it also temporarily helps, but only temporarily. I don’t know if this problem is related to China and blocking (since they are constantly messing with VPNs’ effectiveness) or something else completely unrelated, such as has to do with the WordPress site; or some combination of the two.

Ah, my apologies. I must have glossed over the VPN issue.
I am not seeing any other significant reports of random slowness using WordPress.com. My suspicion is that the issue is related to China’s blocking, since that is the most obvious and probable cause.
Have you tried multiple browsers? Does the same issue happen if you use Firefox instead of Safari for example?

I tried using Chrome and Firefox, and yes, they seem to work better. Which browser would you recommend for WordPress users?
