How do I include panoramic images into a post?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Greetings,

I was looking to include panoramic images, created using Hugin, in my first blog post.

However, from what I can see, it is not possible to do so directly – also, plug-ins are not allowed on WP.COM. One plug-in to do this is WP-PhotoNav by Fabian.

If uploading plug-ins isn’t allowed, is there a way to include panoramic images in posts so that the visitor/viewer can rotate the image, viewing all four points of the compass?

    Kindest regards,

    James

You cannot add custom plugins to WordPress.com, so if you want to add a custom plugin, you should switch to WordPress.org instead. Using WordPress.org software gives you complete control over all of the code.

At WordPress.com, code such as iframes, or javascript, or flash embeds is not allowed. See this page for details:

Could you insert a panoramic image saved as a jpg or a file type like that?

    Greetings,

    So I understand.

It’s just a pity as such panoramic images would be quite a draw for visitors as well as, say, photographers, etc, wishing to include them in their free blogs.

I would have preferred to do this free-of-charge, but if I can’t do this on WordPress.com, I could try it using a free hosting service.

I assume there isn’t a chance of WordPress adding this plugin in the (near) future?

    Thank you anyway.

    Kindest regards,

    James

  • Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans for that yet, but we will take it into consideration.
