How Do I Indent Text?

    Why can I not indent the first sentence of my paragraph on my blog onpainting.wordpress.com? It auto-corrects to flush left. Is it a style indigenous to the theme I chose? While I am complaining here, I would like to add that I would sometimes like to be able to line-space things further apart. It auto-corrects that too, further annoying me.

    Hi there,

    Please note that spacing in the WordPress.com editor, including many spaces in a row and many line breaks, gets collapsed.

    When writing for the web, it’s common not to indent the first line of paragraphs. However, if you want to indent the paragraphs you can do that by switching to the text editor when editing your post and using a little code. Here is an example:

    <p style="text-indent:50px;">This is an indented paragraph. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.</p>

    Note that you would need to add the code to each paragraph manually:
