  WordPress.com doesn’t let you upload plugins or use javascript.

  There are, however, a good selection of themes that include a featured post slider on the homepage, have a look through the theme showcase to see if there are any you like.

  You might also be interested in creating image slideshows.

  I already have a theme i’m using, I’ll try the image slideshows with my current theme and see how it works.
