How do i install my Semplice theme?

  Hi,
  Can it really be, that i have to buy WordPress Business (for 300!!) to get my Semplice Theme to work in WP? Last time i installed it on my computer, i didnt buy an WP upgrade…

  If you want to use a third party theme on the wordpress.com platform you must indeed upgrade to the Business Plan. This has always been so. I guess your other site was selfhosted meaning it uses the open source wordpress.org.

  Hi there!

  To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

  1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
  2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
  3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

  As @staartmees indicated – to install third-party themes here at WordPress.com, you always would have needed the Business Plan. Our managed hosting imposes some limits on what you can do with your WordPress site unless you add an upgrade to your site, which includes adding third-party themes or plugins.
