How do I invite people to subscribe for email alerts?

  I will shortly be making one of my novels available as a PDF and, possibly, a podcast. This fact will be mentioned elsewhere (for example on Crimewav.com, where one of my short stories will be podcast). So I thought one way would be to ask people to put their names into a database so I can email everyone once the book is online.

  Or, is there a better way?
