How do I keep my domain but cancel my premium upgrade?

  I can’t afford to keep the premium upgrade (and I am thinking of going the wordpress.org route), but I would like to keep my domain for the time being. Is it possible to renew my domain without the premium package? How do I ensure that I don’t lose my domain name?
