How do I keep my website and blog linked if they have different domain names?

  Hi there,
  New to blogs… just set one up in last few days, so please forgive my rather basic questions :)
  I would like to add the plug-in ‘flash video player’ to my blog – as I have some video’s I’d like to post. From reading on your site, I understand that to install plugins, I need to move my wordpress blog to a 3rd party server.
  I have built my own website (myfreeweights.com) through a company who lead me through the process. My site is now hosted with this company. Apparently, they are unable to host wordpress.

  Please can you advise what I am best to do. Do I take a different domain name for my blog page? (wordpress have made an auto suggestion: Tip: Be the master of your own domain – make this blog myfreeweights.me for just $24 per year) and then move it to a 3rd party server in order to add plugins.??
  Please can you explain how I can keep the blog linked to my website when they have different names… given the whole point of the blog is to drive sales to my website!
  I think I’m hung up on the blog having to have the same name as my website… is this a valid hang-up! :)

  We don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins are a feature only available for self-hosted blogs provided through WordPress.org.

  Hi there,
  Thanks for your reply.
  I do understand that I need to self-host to add plugins to my blog, as mentioned in my initial question. As I can’t add the blog to my existing host service for my website, I understand I will need to host it with another 3rd party host, along with a different domain name. Please can you explain to me how I ensure my self hosted blog, (domain name A) can be linked to linked to my website, (domain Name B)?

  Once you get a hosting provider, you’ll be able to direct your domain to it by changing your nameservers through your domain registrar.
