How do I keep the image on the front page the same and also how do I delete the very first excerpt,

    To customise my page, so firstly to keep the picture I choose on the front page. Secondly when you log on to my page the first post is the generic words and not my post at all…I understand that as I am using the free version, maybe I cant change this at all
