How do I know what you call spam is actully spam?

I see you’ve rejected 7 spam comments from my blog in the past month but I’ve not seen them, so how do I know they are spam and not legitimate comments?

Hi there,
Could you please let me know where exactly you see that 7 comments were rejected as spam?
Some spam is automatically filtered by our intelligent anti-spam engine, Akismet, while other spam (stuff that Akismet thinks is spam, but is less certain about) will appear on the Comments -> Spam page in your dashboard.
Don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need anymore help. :-)

Thanks for replying. They’re under Askimet site stats… it says ” 7 total spam ” then shows a block graph with green blocks, then under that, it says I had 5 in 2012-3, and 2 in 2012-2, but the 7 isn’t clickable.
It concerns me because no spam detection is 100% accurate (my email sometimes puts genuine emails into my spam folder).
If they’re not accessible, can I turn Akismet off? I get an email notification for each comment on my blog and check my email every day so I can easily reject any comment that is spammy.

The count is actually correct overall. Spam is automatically deleted from the Spam section if it matches spam comments reported by several users, or a comment that you have already reported as spam.
There is no way to deactivate Akismet on a WordPress.com blog.
