How do I let others subscribe to my Atom/RSS feeds?

I know this may be very simple, but I don’t see how it’s done.

They pick up the feed link either by copying and pasting the link from your blog into their aggregator, or, if their browser supports it, they can just click on the a feed link which starts with, “Feed:” and it will be added to their default aggregator.

There’s nothing you have to do except write scintillating posts.

EDIT: but then I dropped by your blog and note that you do not have RSS feed links in your meta section. An old template perhaps? I would have thought that there should be text with this link:

    feed:http://literatureinreview.wordpress.com/feed/

    and for comments:

    feed:http://literatureinreview.wordpress.com/comments/feed/

That’s the Contempt 1.0 theme. I don’t see them either.

Gone ahead and sent in a feedback pointing it out to them.

The feed links for the Contempt 1.0 theme are on the individual entry (comment) pages. Or you can setup the links in the sidebar like mine.

Should be a general feed though, not just for the articles.

    That’ll work.

Wow Marc, I saw what you did on your sidebar. That’s cool…Did you just grab the images and then make them links? I like that.

That’s from FeedBurner. Well, most of them.

You can use this service to select the feeds you desire. (don’t use the “Create Code for WordPress” option)

Once you have that copy the corresponding imgs to your hard drive then to your WP blog via the upload feature.(noting the url for each)

Using the links manager section of your dashboard you then add the section of the feed code in the link url and the img url in the img portion.

If that makes any reasonable sense. The faq’s have a shorter version of the same instructs.

I am bringing up this thread again to ask a question about RSS/Atom Feeds. Hope someone can answer this, it’s a related question.
I found out from the Technorati site that one has to have the RSS/Atom Feeds on and only then one gets the Technorati Tags. I have absolutely no idea what is RSS and Atom and though I tried reading about it, I find it confusing. I know what a feed is though. What I want to know is, what do it do to get the Technorati Tags?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m not addressing the rss part but I hope this helps anyway. Technorati tagging is not done automatically. Bloggers don’t “get” tags. They Create tags. Here is the url http://www.technorati.com/tags/. If you use BlogDesk or Windows Live Writer they have technorati tag generators built into their programming.

  • Unknown's avatar

Tech will use tyeh WordPress categories as tags. There’s no need to add addtional ones.

  • Unknown's avatar

Dr Mike, forgive me for asking a redundant question, but does Technorati really read WordPress tags as T Tags? I’ve only ever gotten hits through Technorati tags on a couple of terms (like “YouTube”) but lots through WordPress. I just want to make triply-sure.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m afraid I must disagree with Timethief; Technorati automatically uses my WordPress tags (they’re listed in the upper left). I’ve never added tags specifically for Technorati.

  • Unknown's avatar

Well you learn something every day I what I have learned is that creating tags of any kind is a total waste of my time. And as time is of the essence to me I won’t be creating them anymore.

  • Unknown's avatar

Agreed. Technorati read my category tags fine.

Nita, you have an RSS feed located here and you can see this link under the Meta heading in your sidebar. You’re fine.
