How do I link a prior post onto my current page, in Chateau?
-
I have the Chateau theme and cannot insert a link within my current post to a previous post. Right now I have the word LINK at the top of my post and it brings the reader to a copy of the same post.
http://iholger.wordpress.com/2013/10/21/eleanor-longden-famous-voice-hearers-hearing-voices-network/Could you please help? (I used the link feature in the text editor). I know this is supposed to be easy but I cannot delete the mess I’ve already made. I want to insert the following: http://iholger.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/schizophrenia-misdiagnosed/
Thank you.

Hi there – That Link feature is for creating a “post format” for a link post. Some themes display different types of posts with different formats, and you can read more about this here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/I think you just want to create a link within your post, though, correct? If so, just use the standard Text format, and use the little link button in the toolbar (that looks like a figure 8) to create your link within your text, in this way:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#creating-linksLet me know if you still have trouble!

The figure 8 link does nothing, and the broken link symbol to delete the problem I have now does not work either. (They are both faded, as if to symbolize lack of access.) I used the “link” feature in TEXT but as I said, I now have something at the forefront of my post that links to the current post itself — not the past one I want to include within my article.
The word LINK precedes my published post’s first sentence, but that word is not visible in Text or Visual mode for me to delete. (Surely I can provide a link access within my post and not preceding it?)

Hi there – The word Link is there because that’s the post’s “post status” since you chose Link from this screen:
http://cl.ly/image/0O1r3w2I3X2NNext time, choose Text NOT Link there. For that post, I went ahead and changed it back to Standard format for you so that the “Link” does not appear.
Then, you can add a link using the 8 button, but you have to highlight some text with your mouse first, so that the button becomes useable, like this:

Would you believe I did not highlight, and hence, the 8 did not activate? You solved my problem, including the LINK issue. I really appreciate your help.
Thank you so much.

Hi there – It’s not immediately obvious that that’s what you need to do. ;)
I’m glad you’re set now – let us know if you need anything else!
