How do I link kevonsimpson.com to my blog here or my old one?
-
I had help setting up my blog and website by a friend who is no longer around. I was not warned about the renewal procedure and I have been having grave difficulty. I purchased mapping, but I did something wrong. Though I don’t know what it is that I did wrong. I just want my website back up and running. My domain is not opening properly, I thought that all I had to do was renew, but that didn’t work. I was trying to have it link to a blog, or just renew my old one. This whole process has not worked out as easily as I thought and I don’t know what I’m doing. I need to speak to a person. Is that possible?
I think it’s too late for a refund, don’t know if I need one, I just want my site to be working again. I miss the simplicity of working with wordpress (when this was all set up for me of course). I also have a worpress.org account, I’m just really confused here.
Please help.

Hi there,
This is the error I see when visiting your site: http://d.pr/i/G2BJ
This error comes up when there are changes to DNS settings for your domain and isn’t related specifically to an upgrade. Since you did not have the Domain Mapping upgrade until September 12, 2014 it sounds like you were using a WordPress.org site and do not need this upgrade.
Is kevonsimpson.com meant to map to a WordPress.org site, or to a WordPress.com site?
Please let me know what changes you made recently to your domain and where you want the Kevonsimpson.com domain to point and I’ll help you unravel this.
Best,

Hi Alex!
Thank you so much for getting back to me! Well, I had a friend handle all of that and I remember having a wordpress.org login, but she did most of the work so it’s all foggy to me.
I am now in charge of all that myself, and would like for my domain to link to kevoninspires.wordpress.com. Would that be possible, or would I have to do something with wordpress.org? I’m a very simply guy, and I don’t want to have to do too many logins in order to change things on my site. Is it too late to be refunded for domain mapping if I truly don’t need it?
That screenshot you sent, is exactly what I see when I type in my website as well.
Thank,

Hi Kevon,
That’s not a problem at all. I’ve associated the domain http://kevonsimpson.com/ with the WordPress.com blog kevoninspires.wordpress.com.
You should be all set now and the site is running without an error. Since you’re mapping the domain to a WordPress.com blog, you do need the domain mapping upgrade – but that’s registered through 2015.
Best,
