How do I link pages to menus in a private blog?

    I am creating a blog for a community group. I want it to be private until others have viewed, but cannot get the custom menu widget to add my test pages so I can see what it looks like before inviting them to view. I have marked all the pages and post “private”. Is this necessary when I have already put “private” into the general settings?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    setting individual Posts and Pages to Private means that only Admin and a few others can see the Pages and Posts. If the blog is Private and only those you invite in, setting a Post to Private means that they can not see the Post –

    I have marked all the pages and post “private”.

    You need to mark them public. First, there’s no point marking them private when the whole blog is set to private. Second, private pages aren’t available in Appearance > Menus.
