How do I log in?

Like seriously, how do I log back in? and can you please explain how to use your website better? It’s so confusing and I’m not sure why it has to be that way. I realize the developers understand what is going on because they designed the damn thing, but it’s not translating to your customers well at all so like get your shit together. Also have you ever heard of customer support? I don’t mean forums, I mean real customer support for people who give you money to use your site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

I don’t mean forums, I mean real customer support for people who give you money to use your site.

I have been providing free real support as a Volunteer for nearly 10 years now. I predate all but one member of Support Staff being on Staff and I predate the support docs. I can say with confidence that assuming Volunteers do not have accurate answers is an incorrect presumption.

The quick way to get help is to clearly state exactly what help you need right here in the peer support forums. Why? Because there is rarely, if ever, and question posed that has not been answered here.

There is no phone support. For all the support options when you have technical support issues see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

Those who have a paid upgrade use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where they will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.

The best contact form to use now is:
    http://wordpress.com/help/contact
Live chat will be available there if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum.

    re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email Staff at:
    support@wordpress.com
    or
    help@wordpress.com

I can help you with getting started with blogging on labvazeydotorg.wordpress.com.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this one https://wordpress.com/themes/cubic/ and a live demo site like this one https://cubicdemo.wordpress.com/

re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog

There is nothing wrong with your blog.

By default, the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post, not a page, the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

For creating a post in the New editor see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#publish-a-new-post
For creating a page in the new editor see here
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-a-new-page

For editing in the new editor see:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/

On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the step by step Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/

See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page.

A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

Also, note that switching themes can be easily done. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

I am so confused. So I made a website using what I think was wordpress.com for the domain site vazeylab.org. If I go to the site, I can see the progress I had made. Now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get back there. If I log in through wordpress.com I get into a different site ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) which is totally empty. I know I didn’t use the downloaded wordpress.org bc frankly I don’t understand it since there is no app to run and it’s just a bunch of folders (I know that I know very little about website building and computers in general, bear with me). What in the world is going on? How do I get back to labvazey.org?

Hi @labvazey, what is the site again? I can’t seem to pull up http://vazeylab.org/ – that domain doesn’t seem to exist.

I do see https://labvazeydotorg.wordpress.com/ though. You are logged into WordPress.com already, and you can start adding new posts here:
    https://wordpress.com/post

If you’ll make a few posts and put a picture in each one, you should see the site start to come together.

I also see http://www.labvazey.org which is not hosted here with us. You can probably log in here: http://www.labvazey.org/wp-admin . If you feel like hosting that site with us instead so we can help support you, let us know and we’ll help you get started.
