Are you referring to logging out of WordPress.COM? I am asking because may people confuse WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Provided you are referring to WordPress.COM, see here please https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-can-not-seem-to-sing-out-of-my-account?replies=17#post-2226648
After you log out don’t forget to clear your browser cache and cookies. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-can-not-seem-to-sing-out-of-my-account?replies=17#post-2228157If you still have trouble Staff will need to know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/ -
My fault, I should have put the .com in caps to be clear…
Yes, WordPress.COM
Also, I’m asking about http://www.WordPress.COM – not the forums.
What device? Choose any computer.
Which browser? Choose any modern browser. -
You click your avatar.
You click SIGN OUT which is on the first line underneath the avatar.
-
When I click on my avatar, it takes me to https://wordpress.com/me – which is my profile – again, no way to log out.
-
And again, just to be clear, I’m talking about http://www.wordpress.com – NOT the forums.
-
I’m going to type this again, slowly. Follow along carefully.
When you get to that page, https://wordpress.com/me the SIGN OUT link is directly beneath the avatar on the left.
-
Ahh… I see your confusion. That is not the avatar, that is the profile picture.
Avatars are commonly small icons that represent you while on sub-pages of a website. In the case of WordPress.COM (and many other websites), the avatar is at the top-right corner.
Profile pictures (which is what you are talking about here) is on the profile page. WordPress.COM calls it the “Profile Photo” when you scroll down a little.
Thanks for pointing out the Sign out link below the profile photo.

I just wanted to point out for all of the people in the world not at smart as you.
The instruction above is misleading: “You click your avatar. You click SIGN OUT which is on the first line underneath the avatar.”
The correct solution is:
1. Click the avatar at the top-right corner of the page.
2. Click the “Sign Out” link below the large profile photo on the page. -
Um, I am not able to see my “avatar” or my “profile photo” anywhere.
As it turns out, using GHOSTERY the “gravatar” or “profile photo” was just plain missing!
IF you also use Ghostery, make sure that it isn’t blocking “Gravatar widgets”.
Suddenly, there it was, and I was able to click on it to get to the page where I could sign out!
(WordPress.com couldn’t have made it any MORE complicated with all the new changes, huh? It’s why I haven’t been posting on my three blogs (held over three years now) for months! THANKS for that WordPress,COM! Great job there!)
