How do I lose the calendar?
-
How do I lose the calendar that is part of my “theme”? When I go to the “widgets” page, I can only add a calendar, though I already have one.

What you are seeing is the default “sample” set of widgets. Drag the widgets you want into the sidebar (design > widgets) and then save.

Thanks for trying to help, but I’m sorry, I don’t understand. The sidebar (in the design > widgets section) already says “You are using 0 widgets in the sidebar”, yet still that calendar is visible on my blog. How can I get it to leave? I can’t really seem to “drag” anything either (not as you would do with text); I can only click “add”.

It’s a default “sample” set. Once you add a widget into the sidebar and save, all the widgets that had been there will disappear. Sorry for saying drag, in the left hand available widgets area, click on the “add” button to add widgets to the sidebar.

Just remember that once you add any widget to your theme’s sidebar, you lose the entire set of your theme’s default widgets. You might want to write down what they are before you start adding widgets.
