How do I make a category show up on a page?

I’m new to this; trying to figure out how to connect categorized posts to show up on a page. I’ve seen this done before, so I know it’s possible. Question is, how?

I know it’s a game site, but the point is: that blog’s Home Page shows all the posts on a home-page. I don’t even know how that works.
What about feeds? (and RSS…) I don’t know what they are… so I could be suggesting a crazy thing in respect to this…
And widgets. I’ve heard they do something, at least similar, right?How do I use these things; should I be using these things??

Ah! Got at least some of it under Dashboard>Settings>Reading. There are a few options that deal with it. I guess that’ll do, but I’m still interested in the feeds and widgets — what are they + how to use?
