How do I make changes necessary to enable me to publish to search engines?
-
I published my Microsoft Word Office doc. on WordPress for the first time, but it did not show on search engines (e.g., Bing, Google, Yahoo). How can I publish my docs. to the Internet so that it shows there? Presently, it shows only on your WordPress. How do I change privacy settings, and meta tags and sitemaps, as you instruct below?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have three options:
1. Copy and paste from Microsoft Word documents into posts and publish them on your blog.
You need to be cautious and use the correct approach when copying and pasting from any document created in a word processor.
Microsoft Word is a word processing program that’s not compliant with web standards. The result of copy and pasting from Microsoft Word into the Tiny MCE editor in WordPress blogs can be unexpected, and contain a lot of formatting code that’s not compliant unless you know how to use the built-in features in the Visual editor for using Word cleanly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
Go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
“save changes”I recommend using Windows Live Writer for posting to your blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/
2. uploading Microsoft WORD docs
Accepted file types http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/
3. Embedding documents
If you want to embed the document itself into a post, then you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs.

It takes weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL. What attracts search engines is unique content the cannot in posts that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/
To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.Note also that WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
Lastly note that we cannot assist with search engine issues. They are between the blogger and the search engine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

You have a two hour old blog with ONE small Post – as noted above take some time to be indexed – 4 to 6 weeks and that is only if you have something worth indexing
-
@TT – no – you did good – just thought the 2 hours vs. the several weeks would put things in perspective – sometimes blunt helps
It took several months for my first WordPress.ORG web site to have search engines show up in 2.5 hours after I made a new Post – then there was the issue of being able to find the new Post on anything but the Post title – it is a slow process for a new site –
