How do I make comments show automatically?
-
Reader’s comments do not appear on the main page automatically. The reader has to click on “3 replies” or whatever to see what others have said in the past. I want the comments to display, so that people want to respond and join the discussion. This is despite the fact that under Settings-Discussion, I’ve selected that comments appear, oldest first.
ALSO: Readers have to enter their name and email address for comments to appear. This discourages discussion. Again, I have not selected that, but when my wife tried to submit a comment yesterday, she was asked to fill in that personal information.
I am referring to this blog:

Hi there,
It is normal for blog posts on your main blog feed (http://lovesexromancequestions.wordpress.com/) to display without comment forms. That is done both to keep the feed neat and tidy, as well as improve page load speed.
If you visit any single blog post (http://lovesexromancequestions.wordpress.com/2014/02/15/if-polygamy-becomes-legal-would-you-be-a-sister-wife/) you will see all of these features displayed.
You can use this behavior to your benefit (and tidy up your blog feed further) by creating manual excerpts at the point in your text that you choose, which will truncate your blog entries so that only that portion of text is displayed, along with a “read more” link pointing the reader to the full post.
You can do this by using the More Tag in your text editor.
Once you have added the More Tag to all your blog posts, visitors to your site will see short teasers for all the posts in your feed, and be encouraged to click on the link to continue reading, as well as like, share, and comment, on your post.
ALSO: Readers have to enter their name and email address for comments to appear. This discourages discussion. Again, I have not selected that, but when my wife tried to submit a comment yesterday, she was asked to fill in that personal information.
Does your wife have a WordPress.com account, and if so, was she logged in? Logged in users should see nothing other than a comment form, and there is no need enter more information. Users who don’t have a WordPress.com account however will see fields for name, email, etc.
This is done to keep spam in check, and there is no way to defeat this setting on WordPress.com blogs.
Let me know if you need assistance or if you have any questions.
