How do I make my blog W3C compliant?

    I’m using the website Nibbler Grader to analyze my website and scoring really low on written code errors (418!) which means its not displaying properly on some browsers. I think my WordPress design is an older one. Do you have a design that is W3C compliant and mobile friendly for using?

    How can I correct these code errors? I thought WordPress would be updated to this standard.

    Your theme is retired, which means it doesn’t always receive updates to keep up with upgrades to the WordPress.com platform.

    All our current themes should be W3C compliant…and they’re all mobile friendly.

    Can you recommend one that is most similar to the retired one I’m using “The Motion Theme”. I’d want it to look similar and save me yet another learning curve.

    Hey there Jane,

    I’ve searched our database for free, two-column themes that allow for a custom header. I’ve also looked for themes that have similar setup requirements to your current theme, Motion.

    Here are my top suggestions:

    1. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/big-brother/
      You can add your own header to this theme, and choose your color pallet. It looks a bit plain in the demo, but it can be pepped up.
    2. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hemingway-rewritten/
      Simple, clean, nice menus.
    3. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/suits/
      Also, very clean and simple. Works great on mobile, from personal experience.
    4. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/misty-lake/
      A bit different than your current layout, but similar. Nice, serene theme.

    Thanks for your suggestions. I’ve tried a few earlier and like Visual. But when I open up the dashboard I have no older posts. Where are they and how can I access them to edit repost etc. Help!

    Ok, I found them but a can’t seem to put widgets on the home page of this theme. Grrrrr. Why did WordPress have to retire the Motion theme???

    Which widgets are you trying to add? I can help with that! Do you only want the widgets on your homepage, or on all your pages?

    Why did WordPress have to retire the Motion theme???

    Usually it’s just a matter of interest in the theme, and usage. Other times, the theme is from an outside developer who has decided to stop supporting/updating it.

    I know there’s a little bit of a learning curve, but I can definitely walk you through it.
