How do I make one of my blogs have its own account?
-
I set up a blog to reserve the name and URL. The blog is for a group I work with. I would like to move the blog off my WordPress account and to a new account, but with the same name as the blog. If I try to set up that account, unsurprisingly I get an error – “Sorry – that site already exists!”.
The blog in question has not yet been published as it does not have any content.
How can I set up this new account?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
You can transfer your blog to another WordPress.com user or account through the My Blogs page of the blog you’d like to transfer.
http://vidofm.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs
Before doing so, make sure that you have the other WordPress.com account set up and ready.
Here’s a helpful article on how to do the transfer:

Hi Elz,
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The problem is that because the blog already exists, I can’t see how to set up the account I want.
My username is “chriswoodhouse” so my default blog is chriswoodhouse.wordpress.com
I am on the committee of the Virtual International Day of the Midwife http://www.vidm.org
We want to move from Wikispaces to WordPress, so as a first step, I checked for available blog names on WordPress. “vidm” had been taken, so I decided I’d better get the next best name, and I set up “vidofm” under my account. What I would like to do is set up a new user account at WordPress called “vidofm” and then transfer this blog (also “vidofm”) to it. But, from the WordPress home page, the only option for a new blog is “Create Website”. If I click on that, the first step is to specify the “Site Address”, and if I then enter “vidofm” (giving vidofm.wordpress.com) I get the error message “Sorry, that site already exists!”
So, is there anyway of creating the account “vidofm”, so the WordPress account and the blog have the same address? Or is my only option to create an account with a different name and the transfer “vidofm” to that new account?

Alright, I got it now. Here’s an alternative solution:
You can sign up for a username only instead here:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1However, when I entered “vidofm” in the username field, it says that it isn’t available. Did you already sign up for another WordPress.com account with the username “vidofm”? I just wanted to clarify that since it wasn’t stated on your reply.

Thanks for the link Elz. I tried it as well and got the same result with “vidofm”. I think I’ll just have to try a different userid.
My guess is that when I tried to set up a new WordPress account “vidofm”, WordPress checked to make sure there is neither an account already set up with userid “vidofm” nor a blog vidofm.wordpress.com.
Although the userid “vidofm” does not exist at WordPress, the check still fails because I had set up the blog “vidofm.wordpress.com”.
I’ll know for next time :-)
Thanks again for trying to help.
