How do I make side-by-side footer widges

Hi! I’ve been using WordPress for over 5 years, so I’m quite familiar with it… or so I though.
I’ve started setting up a new website, and for some reason I cannot figure out how to make side-by-side widgets. Or a sidebar widget. I’ve got them on my old websites, so I’m not sure where I’m going wrong…
I only have one option for widgets – a footer, with a one-after-another layout.TIA :)

Hello there,
It looks like the theme in use is Exford, which is a block based theme.
This means, that mainly, you’re free in a way to create your own template.
A way to add a sidebar would be via a columns block, or a layout block.
