How do I make sure my new blog is not going to be connected to my personal blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to start a second blog for a certain subject, but I don’t want it to be at all connected to my personal blog I have on wordpress. I would also prefer to keep most of my personal information private, maybe even having a different Gravatar, or none at all. I just want it to be more anonymous, and something that readers can contact me through the blog, but not have any personal information about me. But I’m scared to get it up and running and then have people be able to see my personal blog (find it through my gravatar profile, etc). Any tips? I have the dashboard set to “hidden” right now, but I don’t know if that has any affect on the actual blog. HELP!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How do I make sure my new blog is not going to be connected to my personal blog?

Short answer: create a new account-> new user. new password. etc.

I know I could do that, but that’s really inconvenient. Is there any way to make my blog private on the public interface but keep it connected to my general account? It would be great not to have to sign in and out over and over.

You could make the new blog LITERALLY private, by setting it to Private on the Settings->Reading page. Then only people you invite could read it.

Otherwise, someone will always, always be able to connect the two blogs and you to the blogs. Most of the time it happens because somebody says “Did you see Katie’s new blog?” and links to it and poof, a google search of your name turns up your “secret” blog.

Signing in and out is not THAT big of a deal.

Okay, I am thinking that signing in and out is probably the best way to do it. However, because my email address is already registered with an account on wordpress I’m going to have to create a new email address for this specific account. Wow. There should be a way to have a blog that is not connected to your profile (publicly). You’d think with all the privacy concerns nowadays there would be an option for that.

I don’t want my new blog to be private to the general public, I just don’t want it directly connected with me, or to my personal blog. :/ I wish there was an easier way to do this.

There ARE options for that: all of them are insecure.

God, it’s not heavy lifting. Sign in and out. Simple. Any solution which looks easier than that is a security problem.
