Hello there,
In order to map your domain to the site hosted on WordPress.com, you need an upgraded plan. Each paid plans come with a free credit that allows you to register a domain or transfer/map your domain. Domain mapping no longer available for purchase as a standalone upgrade.
Please read this guide on mapping your domain to WordPress.com site:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/Do let us know if you have further questions.

Thank you for your help. I have upgraded to “personal” plan which is $4/month, and I have changed the NS record of my domain to the following as suggested in your document:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMAnything else I need to do?

Have you added the domain on your WordPress.com Domains page? https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#1-add-domain-mapping
I’ve added a modlook tag for Staff assistance to verify you setup as well.

This is what is displayed on the “domain” page:

Hi there,
The domain mingbairen.com.au was successfully mapped to your WordPress.com and everything is set up correctly on our end. From here, the only thing left to do is wait for the DNS to propagate across the internet, a process which may take 72 hours.
You can watch the propagation here:
https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/mingbairen.com.auLet us know if you have any additional questions or we can help you with anything else.
Cheers,

Hi, the new NS records have been propagated completely, but “mingbairen.com.au” still gets nowhere. Please help!

Hi there,
Our system is still seeing your domain’s NS records as pointing to AWS. It looks like the changes might still be propagating:
https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/mingbairen.com.au
Name server changes can take up to 72 hours to complete, so for now the only option is to wait for that to happen.
Also please make sure that changed the name servers for your domain, and that you didn’t just add NS records directly to the DNS itself. The latter will not give us control over your domain’s DNS, and will not work for mapping the domain here. We need to control the DNS so we can add the A and CNAME records that are also required for your site to work correctly.
-
I don’t understand your last paragraph. Could you please tell me what A and CNAME record I need to add ? I am a certified AWA solution architect associate so I should be able to add myself. Thanks.
-
You don’t need to add an A or CNAME records. Our system does that automatically, but in order to do that we need control over your domain’s DNS. You give us that control by switching your domain’s name servers to us.
However, it appears that instead you have only added NS records to the DNS at your existing DNS host. That is not the same as changing the name servers, and will not work to point the domain to us.
Name servers need to be changed at the registrar where you bought the domain, which might not be the same company as your current DNS host, which appears to be AWS.
-
I registered “mingbairen.com.au” with AWS Route53. I didn’t go through anyone else. In its “Hosted Zones” I deleted the original NS record, and added your name servers. What else shall I do?
-
I did a whois, and realised that AWS is not the registra. Tucows is the registra. I think AWS is in partner with Tucows. I have raised a support request on AWS.
-
If you registered the domain with AWS, you need to make this change through them.
Did you follow this process with AWS?
