How do I migrate data and deal with old blog?
-
Three questions:
1. How do I migrate my site stats from wordpress.com to wordpress.org (I”m using Hostgator), and I couldn’t find the Api key. I was prompted to create a new one, but that doesn’t bring in my old stats.2. In my old blog (.com) I have a list of other blogs to which I contribute and have access to via “my blogs.” How do I do that now that I’ve moved to a wordpress.org platform?
3. What do I do with my .com blog? I migrated all the content to the new one, and won’t be updating the old one.
Thank you!
p.s. – I don’t speak techy, so please break it down for me. I do well w/ step-by-step, and screenshots are always helpful.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and posted the relevant URL(s), Staff will do the transfer of subscribers and stats for you. I tagged this thread for their attention.
3. I suggest your make the WordPress.com blog private and periodically export content out of your install and import content into it so you have a backup blog. See option 3 here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Thank you! I never thought to make the old one private and use it that way.
I did install jetpack. Will they contact me to handle the transfer?

Good. :) Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when Staff respond and please be patient while waiting, noting that it is a long weekend.

I can do that for you. Please post the relevant URL(s) of your old and new (self-hosted) blog.

You still need your WordPress.com account in order to access and a contribute to other WordPress.com blogs.

Kardotim – I think I probably didn’t describe my challenge correctly. I already moved all of the pages, etc., but the stats (API stuff) didn’t migrate. Can you help me with that?
Thanks!

Can you help me with that?
Sure! just to verify, do you want to move the stats from korimiller.wordpress.com to korimillerwrites.com ?
-
Kardotim – Yes, that’s exactly what I want to do.
And, what’s the best way to let followers of the old blog know about the new blog? I’m doing the usual: posts, twitter, etc.
Thanks!

I’ve just moved both followers and site stats from korimiller.wordpress.com to korimiller.com .
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Kardotim,
Thank you! Can you do the same thing for Backporchwriter.wordpress.com to Backporchwriter.com? I made the switch yesterday (after a long, frustrating day dealing with a platform that wasn’t working for me.) -
