I’m having trouble migrating all of my data from wordpress.com to my new self hosted site, specifically, my media library did not migrate.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

As noted in our Export documentation here:

    Export Your Website’s Content

“The current version of the WordPress.org installation gives you the option to import uploaded files, but the blog you are importing from must be live and serving images properly in order for it to work.”

Your old site and files are still live and working of course, but I want to make sure that you checked the option to import the uploaded files during the import process on your WordPress.org site.

From what I am seeing on thetraveluster.com, some of the images are still being sourced from traveluster.files.wordpress.com (which is where media uploaded to your old WordPress.com site resided).

An example would be this post: http://thetraveluster.com/washington-dc-the-heart-of-the-empire/

If I right-click on the image of the Washington Monument and select “Open image in new tab” (in Chrome), I get this image opened:

As you can see, it’s not on the new site.

What I would suggest then is checking to make sure you chose the import media option during the WordPress.org import process.

    Thanks! :)
