How do I migrate my site to wordpress.org

    Hi There, I used to have a wordpress subscription for my http://www.esk8uk.co.uk – this subscription ended 2 years ago. I would like to use wordpress.org through my hostgator hosting site, however I keep getting the following message: ‘Something unexpected happened while accessing this website. It looks like it doesn’t have an active domain connection upgrade to link the requested domain name to the WordPress.com site.

    If this is your domain name and it has recently stopped working, it’s possible that your plan or domain may have expired. Please log in to your WordPress.com account and review the status of your plan and domain. ‘ please can you give any advice? Many thanks Ashley

    It looks like your esk8uk.co.uk domain is already registered with HostGator.

    If you’re looking to migrate your esk8uk.wordpress.com site there, here’s how: https://move.wordpress.com/

    Otherwise, you may want to contact HostGator for further support.

    Many thanks for your reply!

    I have just (~1hr ago, shortly after posting my question) changed the namesevers from the wordpress.com to hostgator – I hoped that would solve the problem, however, it is still showing the same error message.

    So, you’re saying it is a problem I should ask Hostgator about?

    http://esk8uk.co.uk/ is definitely pointing to a WordPress.org site at Hostgator for me.

    When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, your domain may not be available, may go to its old location, or you may receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors.”

    If you still have trouble viewing the site after 24 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache: https://www.refreshyourcache.com/

    If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html

    I’ve tried clearing my cache and flushed the dns – still not working, however, it sounds like I need to give it time.
